TaxIQ Inc. was built on a foundational principle: your tax data belongs to you, not to us. We collect the minimum information necessary to provide our service, protect it with the strongest available encryption, and we never monetize your personal information.
We do not run advertising. We do not sell data to data brokers. We do not share your information with third parties for marketing. Our revenue comes exclusively from subscription fees — not from your data.
Our Promise: TaxIQ will never sell, rent, trade, or share your personal or tax information with any third party for commercial purposes. Ever. This is a core business commitment, not just a legal formality.
Information We Collect
Account Information
- Name and email address (required for account creation and OTP verification)
- Password (stored as a one-way hash — never readable by anyone, including TaxIQ staff)
- Account creation date and last login timestamp
Tax Return Information
- W-2 wage and withholding information you enter
- Business income, expenses, and deduction data
- Investment and capital gains information
- Retirement contribution amounts
- Filing status, dependents, and personal tax information
- Social Security Numbers (SSN) — encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage
Payment Information
- We store only a Stripe payment method token — never your actual card number
- Transaction amounts and dates for your records
- Billing address if provided
Technical Information
- IP address (for rate limiting and fraud prevention only)
- Browser type and device type (for compatibility)
- Pages visited within TaxIQ and feature usage patterns
- Error logs for debugging and service improvement
How We Use Your Information

- Calculate your federal and state tax liability using verified IRS rates
- Identify applicable tax strategies and deductions for your situation
- Run the self-audit engine to flag potential IRS concerns in your return
- Generate your CPA export package upon request
- Send OTP verification codes for account security

- Monitor your activity outside of the TaxIQ platform
Third Party Services
TaxIQ uses a limited number of carefully selected third-party services, each subject to strict data handling requirements:

- Cloudflare (cloudflare.com) — Infrastructure, CDN, and DDoS protection. Processes IP addresses for security purposes. Privacy policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy
- SendGrid (sendgrid.com) — Transactional email for OTP codes and account notifications only. Your email address is used solely for service communications. Privacy policy: sendgrid.com/policies/privacy
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising or behavioral tracking tools.
Data Retention
We retain your data according to the following schedule:
- Active accounts: All data retained while your account is active
- Tax return data: Retained for 7 years from filing date, consistent with IRS audit window recommendations
- Account data: Deleted within 30 days of account deletion request
- Payment records: Retained for 7 years for legal and accounting purposes
- Security logs: Retained for 90 days for fraud investigation purposes
After the applicable retention period, data is permanently and irreversibly deleted from all systems including backups.
Your Rights & Choices
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: Request a complete copy of all data we hold about you
- Correction: Update or correct any inaccurate information in your account
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data

TaxIQ uses minimal, essential cookies only:

Children's Privacy
TaxIQ is intended for adults filing their own tax returns. Our Service is not directed to children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18.
